Laura Ecimovic

For Commissioner of the Revenue

Laura Ecimovic has served as the New Kent County Commissioner of the Revenue since January 2007. She is a licensed appraiser with experience as a small business owner, business manager and Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue.

In her role, she has instituted a culture of transparency and accountability to citizens by establishing New Kent’s first in-house reassessment of real estate and providing a detailed record card to each New Kent property owner. She has also streamlined office operations including comprehensive online services. Laura embraces her role as an educator, participating in workshops, speaking to local organizations, home-owner association and businesses. Over the past 12 years Laura has continued her education in tax policy and ad valorem assessments, which is a tax whose amount is based on the value of the property or transaction. She has accumulated over 400 hours in continuing education units.

Laura is an advocate for tax relief for the elderly, disabled, volunteer fire and police, as well as veterans’ exemptions.

As a resident of New Kent for over 35 years, Laura is active in multiple community organizations, such as serving as a Board Member of Proclaiming Grace Outreach. She is passionate in her belief to “pay it forward” and relies on her faith to complete the mission.

Her husband, David, is a retired police officer. The have 4 daughters and 2 granddaughters.
