Scott Renick

For Commonwealth’s Attorney

Scott Renick has provided legal services in New Kent County since 1997. His practice focus has been criminal law and a variety of other areas of law. He will state emphatically, “I believe in the Rule of Law”.

Scott graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1991. He has experience in all court systems in the Richmond area, including; Federal Courts, Virginia Court of Appeals, the Virginia Supreme Court and numerous county courts.

Scott is a father of two sons who attend school in New Kent. He is active in numerous county groups, as well as being a coach of soccer and basketball for the last 25 seasons. In both his professional and personal roles, he has spent hours talking to parents, our youth, his clients and colleagues about the positive attributes, challenges and opportunities for New Kent County.

The Governance interview team was impressed with his thoughtful and analytical assessment and vision for New Kent County. Scott loves this county and hopes to preserve its historical significance and establish a strategic plan which outlines controlled growth. He is very knowledgeable regarding the strengths and needs within our schools and the lack of infrastructure within the county’s park/recreation services.

In his professional role, he identified the lack of mental health services and a drug court as current and future challenges for our county.
